HOW WE TRAIN
We help create the solutions to your struggles.
POSITIVE, REWARD AND GAMES BASED TRAINING METHODS.
Our positive reinforcement style training focusses on teaching appropriate behaviour by rewarding correct decisions and embracing each dog's individuality. We incorporate games into our training to help build confidence, impulse control and focus while having fun together and building a strong and mutual bond.
THE MYTH OF THE 'PACK' LEADER AND DOMINANCE THEORY.
The idea that our dogs are battling to be the 'alpha' or 'pack leader' is an older approach to training from a number of decades ago. More recent scientific research has disputed the idea that dogs are trying to be the boss and it is important that we realise that dogs are not tame wolves. The domestic dog is it's own species and it is just trying to figure out what works to get the things it wants (food, attention, games etc).
As owners, handlers and dog lovers we should work with our dogs to communicate appropriately and teach them with kind, positive and fun methods.
WHY WE DON'T USE PUNISHMENT AND AVERSIVE METHODS.
The use of punishment is not needed to stop unwanted behaviours. Intimidation and aversive methods risk creating fearful dogs and a damaged relationship.
Why would we choose these methods when we can guide and have fun with our dogs instead?
